May 15, 2018 – At a rally in New Jersey, Chris Smith called for the release of American hostages held in Iran, including a Princeton University graduate student Xiyue Wang, reported News 12. He is a tireless supporter for Americans unfairly held abroad.
“Smith, who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Human Rights, says he plans on bringing [Wang’s wife] before Congress to testify on her husband’s behalf.”
Wang’s wife, Hua Qu, has regained hope for her husband after three Americans were released from North Korea last week. Rep. Smith has been an advocate for Mr. Wang and according to News 12, “[Smith] says he plans on bringing Qu before Congress to testify on her husband’s behalf. Qu says that she will do it because she knows that her husband is losing hope after two years of a 10-year sentence.”
